I met Kellie O’Connor in her role as charge nurse when I was hospitalized in May 2024 at VVMC. I had truly outstanding care from everyone at VVMC, but Kellie surpassed even that with her depth of compassion. During a particularly difficult night for me (due to pain), Kellie was called and came to my room to assist the others in reducing my pain level. She approached me personally, not as a number sitting in a bed, and actually befriended me. We talked about our pets and the next day she brought me a very thoughtful and personal gift of a stuffed animal (who looks just like my dog!) along with a few candies. Seeing that gift from her raised my spirits so many times, and still does since it’s now sitting in my room at home. Before my discharge Kellie also stopped in my hospital room to say hi and check if I needed anything before and after her shifts while working other areas of the hospital. She has even checked in with me following my discharge! She is an amazing, compassionate person and the kindness and friendship shown to me will always be remembered.
