Shannon was our angel. My ex-husband came in with a seizure, heart problem, and other complications. He doesn’t like hospitals or needles. By Day 3, he was determined to leave. Shannon came in and explained to him why he couldn’t leave and calmed him down. She told him she would stay as long as it took to help him understand his dire situation. She stayed and talked about everything medically, family, and so much more. She said whatever it took, she would be here to help him. She did this for an hour to get him to calm down and stay. I think she saved his life in those moments. He is a very stubborn and persistent man but is also kind, funny, reasonable, and very polite.

Shannon also offered to get him a pizza because he was hungry, out of her own pocket, just to get him to stay and relax. She was fabulous. I have been in hospitals in my lifetime for numerous health issues, and what this nurse did, I have never seen or been a part of. She is a very special person, and I really believe she saved his life by being able to calm him down and keep him in the hospital until his Potassium levels were high enough for him to be released. Shannon went above and beyond the call of duty. That’s why she was our angel. Thank you, and may God bless you and your family.
