The way Cindy made her patients feel seen, heard, respected, and important overall is the type of nurse I want to become.
I've shadowed Cindy multiple times for my Med-Surg 2 clinicals. She has been one of the kindest, sweetest, and most considerate nurses I have met. When in patient rooms, she takes the time to listen and have conversations with her patients, even if they are grumpy. She is positive and still makes jokes.
When teaching me, she was patient and went at a slow pace to teach me to be hands-on, chart, give medications, and more. She also gave me the opportunity to start an IV, and she walked me through the steps to make me feel comfortable. There's so much I can say about what she did for me, but the way she made her patients feel seen, heard, respected, and important overall is the type of nurse I want to become. Somebody who sits with their patients and gets to know them on a personal level, past their diagnosis. The way she connects with patients is inspiring, and all you can do is smile at how contagious her joy is.
