Jessica Roeder not only took care of me for my left carpal tunnel, but she was also my nurse for my combo surgery of my right carpal tunnel as well as my right shoulder arthroscopy. She knew how nervous I was upon arriving for both surgery dates. She eased my nerves in multiple ways. When she came to get me from pre-op, she was professional and treated me with kindness. She knew how important privacy was to me. I told her to just cover my face so no one could see me. She granted my wish, but I did uncover it. Working in the operating room, I know that sometimes, when positioning for a shoulder procedure, you can be more exposed while positioning the patient. Without glasses, I could tell the window on the door was covered and that the blinds were closed on the window. When she brought me into the operating room, the team asked what I wanted for music, and they turned my wish on, which was country. This helped me focus on other things and to ease the anxiety I was having.

I was back for my left carpal tunnel, and Jessica was my nurse again. She had the same professional attitude and treated me with kindness when picking me up from the pre-op area. I wasn’t as nervous about this surgery, she still made me feel safe in her care. Even though I knew I wasn’t going to be in a difficult position for this surgery, she still gave me the privacy that she knew was important to me. She had the window on the door taped and had the blinds closed on the window for the operating room. She made sure I was comfortable before I drifted off to sleep. Being comfortable with my right arm in a sling from the previous surgery was very important for my physical needs. Without question, she remembered what music I selected during my first surgery, and they turned country on to ease my nerves. I work with Jessica in the operating room and know how caring and respectful she is; there is no doubt in my mind that she treats all her patients with the same compassion and respect. She truly understood my fears, my needs, and my health, and I will forever be grateful for the great care that I received from her for each procedure.
