Our dad was hospitalized and subsequently passed away after a 4-day hospital stay. While everyone treated us with such compassion, respect, and empathy, one nurse stands out for her genuine kindness to our entire family. Tina’s understanding of the importance of all of us being together during such a difficult time was such an integral part of our experience and our Dad's journey. There are ten siblings. I know the day-to-day business of an ICU can be busy and difficult, but Tina made sure we knew we were her priority.

Tina took the time to allow us to share stories of tragedy, faith, and love and she shared stories with us. She cried with us and treated my Dad with such dignity and respect. She talked to him and with him, even though his responses were minimal. Tina made us feel like we were at home with Dad. Her genuine, heartfelt hugs made us know she was sharing in our journey. As she listened to stories about Dad, we all felt like she had become part of our family. She became a friend, not just Dad's caregiver. The day she was the charge nurse, she made a special effort to come to his room and spend time with our family. Our dad's journey to eternal rest was made into a beautiful experience because of the kindness and love shown by Tina.
