Patrica has been an excellent, dedicated, competent, and caring triage nurse for the past 18 years. She handles each patient call with care and compassion.
Patricia started her career at CHOP 38 years ago on 5 Medical, where she was highly regarded as an outstanding clinical staff nurse. She was respected and appreciated by all of her coworkers then and now. Patrica left CHOP to pursue a career as a Pediatric homecare nurse working various shifts, providing home care visits, and then finally became a clinical coordinator prior to joining our Program.
Patrica has been an excellent, dedicated, competent, and caring triage nurse for the past 18 years. She handles each patient call with care and compassion. She is an outstanding charge nurse and an extremely knowledgeable resource for new and existing staff. Paricia is a member of the Advisory Committee, which meets to discuss staff and unit processes and concerns. The advisory committee works to solve problems and advance the program. Patricia is very detail-oriented and shares notes from all meetings at length to keep everyone in the loop.
Patricia has been a Certified Pediatric Nurse, sharing her pediatric knowledge while contributing to CHOP's goal of Magnet designation. Patricia is also a breastfeeding resource nurse, helping moms achieve successful breastfeeding. She submitted many posters over the years representing the program and our breastfeeding efforts during Breastfeeding Awareness Week. Many of her posters received awards for their creativity and content. Our department was so proud of her and this accomplishment.
Our Program has had many policy and procedure revisions as well as orientation documents that required tedious corrections and revisions when our program moved from the office to the home. Patricia was an essential contributor in the review process, editing and updating these documents. We were so fortunate to be recipients of her detailed, thorough, excellent review work. If Patty is involved in a project, the end result will be perfection!
Patricia is President of the Delaware County Down Syndrome Interest Group. As a board member during the pandemic, Patricia worked on a COVID-19 vaccination initiative for the Delaware County Down Syndrome Interest Group, assisting families to obtain COVID-19 vaccinations. Patricia has hosted numerous community events for the group. She has held many different positions for the organization since becoming a member in 1990. Patricia is an outstanding critical thinker who is always striving to do her best work and encouraging others to do the same. She is an example of nursing excellence and is an essential triage nurse for our department. I truly believe we have so many incredible nurses at CHOP, but Patricia is an exceptional one, and we are lucky to have her as a friend and coworker in our department.
