My Aunt loves Coke. So Emily dipped a sponge in Coke and placed it on her lips. She told my Aunt that she would make sure she got her Coke. My family said that Emily was compassionate and caring. They said that Emily is an angel looking over the sick and their families.
My grandmother got sick very unexpectedly and got transferred to Evansville. We had a hard time understanding the situation, not everyone knew everything about her, such as how she was not sedated, yet had no reflex. We were very concerned about doing surgery, as she may have died during surgery and even if it worked she would have been brain dead, but no one was mentioning that. Emily listened to our concerns, and brought it up to the doctors, which helped to allow us to make the decision to withdraw care, resulting in her passing peacefully surrounded by family. She was amazing explaining everything to us in ways we could understand, and making the day easier for us despite the circumstances.

I am a leader at the Indianapolis Ascension St. Vincent location. My Aunt had been a patient at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville for some time. Her condition continued to roller coaster where she would be in the ICU then transfer to a step down unit then back to ICU, and so on. Unfortunately, the last time to ICU she was diagnosed with sepsis and resulted in ARDS. Emily was my Aunt's nurse most of her last days in the ICU. She would talk to her about the care that she wanted and did not want. She would talk to my family, explain everything in detail, looked up test results, and the list goes on. When my uncle and cousins decided to remove care, Emily was there from start to finish. My Aunt loves Coke. So Emily dipped a sponge in Coke and placed it on her lips. She told my Aunt that she would make sure she got her Coke. My family said that Emily was compassionate and caring. They said that Emily is an angel looking over the sick and their families. Thank Emily, so very much, for providing such great care to all of those you serve. <3

Emily gave special care to my sister in law in ICU. She was always there if the family had any questions or concerns. When it was end of life for my sister in law. Emily stayed with my brother and his family until she passed away. She showed so much compassion and care to our family. She’s an angel looking over the sick and their family.

Emily is such a kind soul and deserves to be recognized for all she does. Emily had a high-profile pediatric case this week that she worked diligently with to make sure they were still able to have an honor walk, despite the situation. Emily also had another pediatric case on her caseload during this time where she had to have more difficult conversations with family members regarding possible end-of-life care. Emily continues to go above and beyond the expectations as a nurse even while working a difficult caseload. She not only takes care of her patients but also their families.
