She also went to Hallmark, personally selected cards for both of my children, and set them aside so that their dad could write in them for milestones he might miss. I was truly touched by her thoughtfulness.
Today, I have the honor of recognizing someone who has gone above and beyond in offering unwavering support and kindness during an incredibly challenging time in my life, Sharyn Townsend.

Recently, my children’s father was diagnosed with cancer at just 36 years old. The disease progressed quickly, and it has spread to multiple areas, including his spine.

While in Sharyn’s office, I broke down from feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to navigate this situation. Without a second thought, Sharyn reached out to our incredible palliative care nurse, and together, they offered me valuable advice and ideas on how to support both my children and their dad during this difficult time. Their insight was not only helpful but truly comforting, and I will always be grateful for their guidance.

A week or so later, Sharyn went above and beyond to help in an even more meaningful way. She thoughtfully gave me folders with resources tailored to both of my kids' age ranges. She also went to Hallmark, personally selected cards for both of my children, and set them aside so that their dad could write in them for milestones he might miss. I was truly touched by her thoughtfulness. The time and care she invested in selecting the cards has stayed with me, and it still brings tears to my eyes whenever I think about it. Her thoughtfulness was not just deeply meaningful, but also a powerful reminder of the kindness that can be found even during difficult times.

This experience has been incredibly painful, but it’s moments like these, when a colleague goes above and beyond to help, that make me proud to be part of this team. Sharyn, your kindness and support have made a world of difference to me and my family. I can’t thank you enough.
