She stayed over three hours past her shift to remain with me, even after I was under anesthesia.
Alexis was my nurse during one of the scariest and most difficult times of my life. I am 23 years old and was admitted due to severe blood loss from a fibroid. Everything was fine and I was stable until it took a turn, and I started experiencing severe blood loss again and hemorrhaging. Once it got bad, Alexis never left my side. She called a rapid response for me, and nurses flooded the room; it was right at shift change, so Alexis was the only nurse in the room I was familiar with. She reassured me the whole time. I asked if she could go into the OR with me for my emergency hysterectomy; she asked the doctor, and the doctor agreed. She stayed over three hours past her shift to remain with me, even after I was under anesthesia. She went into the waiting room to update my mother and help entertain my 17-month-old daughter. She came and checked on me in the recovery unit and was my nurse on my second day post-op. Even under stressful circumstances and the rush to get me to the OR as soon as possible, Alexis was calm and collected, ensuring the nurses and doctors knew my history and how to provide me with the best care possible. Alexis is a nurse you can feel cares; her dedication to me and my care was evident. If she hadn’t done everything exactly as she did, I may not have made it home to see my daughter, and for that, I will be eternally grateful. My mother also deeply appreciates her for keeping her up to date and for being there for me during an extremely emotional and difficult time.
