Nicole was the nurse on the unit when a patient started to have a seizure. While having the seizure, she could tell that the patient was aspirating on his secretions. Nicole showed great leadership and quick thinking in a critical situation. She was able to get him stabilized and transferred to the local hospital quickly. While at the local hospital, she communicated with the doctors and nurses advocating for the patient who cannot speak for himself. They discharged the patient, and he had another seizure in the van on the way back to the State Hospital. She took control of the situation and made sure the patient was taken back to the hospital. She has the ability to remain calm under pressure and act decisively to ensure the patient's safety and well-being. Her proactive attitude, especially in high-stress situations, is a testament to her skill and commitment. The outcome of the situation could have been much worse if Nicole had not acted quickly and advocated for the patient. Nicole consistently shows a commitment to patient care and advocacy. This is just one of many examples where Nicole has gone above and beyond. She is very deserving of the prestigious award.

I'm nominating Nicole for the DAISY Award because she consistently goes above and beyond to support our unit and I believe that is more valuable than a single event. She often takes on extra shifts to ensure that both patients and staff are well cared for. Her willingness to step up shows her dedication to our unit. Beyond her incredible work ethic, Nicole thrives in high-pressure situations. In times of crisis, she remains calm, focused, and highly effective, making sure the patients receive the best possible care. Whether it's a medical emergency or a staffing shortage, she handles every situation with grace.
