My husband and I were scheduled for a planned C-section but went in on Sunday afternoon for decreased movement. It was there that we were told the tragic and devastating news that our baby had no heartbeat. We were admitted and I started my induction later that day. I delivered the following day. One of my nurses, Rosalia, made such an impact on me during my stay. From the second Rosalia walked in, she provided care and compassion to not just me, but my entire family who had joined us at the hospital. She balanced empathy and professionalism and provided reassurance to me that I could get through and was going to survive this. Rosalia ensured that my baby, C, was handled with delicacy and love. After he was delivered, she took hand and footprints and encouraged us to take pictures with C if it's something we felt comfortable doing. Without her suggestion, I'm not sure we would have many of the pictures we cherish to this day. And when it came time to say our goodbyes to C, it was Rosalia who took him and made sure he was taken care of in the same way he would have been by my husband and me. Rosalia made the worst days of my life bearable, and I cannot thank her enough for providing me with such good care and showing so much love to me and my family.
