Angel saw us all as people in need...and she provided the most professional, genuine, and safe care.
After having some turbulent encounters with some staff members here at the hospital who were caring for my mother during her stay, we had lost faith in the ability and desire of the nurses to care for our mother adequately and with compassion. As my sister and I are both nurses, we understand the trials that come with being a nurse, which further increased our disappointment in the care our mom received. Then walks in Angel with such a sweet and genuine presence. Watching her provide care to my mom gave me hope in her continued care here. We were thrilled to learn that she would be our nurse for the next few days. It gave us peace and made us feel safe knowing she had us. As a nurse, I noticed that she took the time to ask the important questions, seek out information even if it meant more work, followed through with her assurances, promises, and relayed information back to complete loop communication. She cared for me as a family member as well as my mom. Angel saw us all as people in need...and she provided the most professional, genuine, and safe care. She is our core memory of our time here. Because of her, my mom and our family regained our faith. I personally regained hope in our next generation of nurses. The orders were sought, physicians were asked, bandages were changed, pain managed...the list goes on. I believe a totally different outcome could have happened without her presence, and that she helped prevent making a hard situation worse and promoted mom to her best for her next steps.
