As a nurse, there is nothing more important to me than advocating for my patients. Also, truly seeing the person for who they are and not just a number. My parents are both terminally ill and have been in and out of the hospital this past year. Many times, the care they would receive would upset me, and they would treat my parents as if they were just another checklist to check off. Sue truly cared for my dad and was extremely compassionate towards us.

My mom just passed away from ALS. As I was planning my mother's funeral, my father got admitted to the hospital. Sue was so comforting. She tried to get answers for me on my concerns about my dad. Sue knew I needed answers, she made calls so they would come talk to me and provide me with updates. Sue made time for my dad. I am not even her patient, and she showed empathy towards me and what my family endured. Sue hugged me, and it meant a lot to me. To me, this simple gesture is what makes an amazing nurse. I will forever be grateful to have had her as my dad's nurse in that moment of our lives. I try to give my all to my parents, so to have felt that from Sue meant everything to me. Thank you, Sue, for everything.
