While many nurses experience burnout from the demanding nature of bedside nursing, Marvin's encouragement has invigorated my passion through committee work. Marvin's contributions often go unnoticed, yet he consistently makes time for his employees despite his demanding schedule.
Marvin has been the most exceptional leader I have ever had in my nursing career. His leadership qualities are numerous, but his most significant contribution has been providing me with autonomy and unwavering support to promote that autonomy.

Two years ago, Marvin approached me with the opportunity to Chair the Comprehensive Unit-Based Safety Program (CUSP). At that time, I was unfamiliar with the program, but Marvin assured me that I would be an ideal fit due to my natural leadership skills and my consistent drive to enhance workplace safety. He envisioned CUSP as a platform for me to implement my ideas, and despite being the clinical leader, he empowered me to take full charge. This trust and responsibility allowed my Co-Chair and me to lead the meetings and projects effectively.

Marvin's support extends beyond mere delegation. His open-door policy means I can reach out to him anytime with questions or requests, and he always responds promptly. He ensures I have the necessary resources, including the man hours required to complete our projects. Moreover, he facilitates our initiatives by helping us navigate the chain of command when needed. Under Marvin’s leadership, our CUSP team has flourished, growing to about 60 members. We provide a safe space for discussing safety concerns and the support to address them, thanks to Marvin's continuous backing. While many nurses experience burnout from the demanding nature of bedside nursing, Marvin's encouragement has invigorated my passion through committee work. Marvin's contributions often go unnoticed, yet he consistently makes time for his employees despite his demanding schedule.

The culture on 4E has significantly improved since Marvin became our manager. His dedication and hard work behind the scenes have transformed our unit, making it a better place to work. I am committed to staying on 4E, not only to maintain my clinical skills but also because I want Marvin to continue being my manager. He deserves recognition for his outstanding leadership and the positive impact he has made on our unit and on me. Marvin is a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
