He didn’t just care for my dad—he worked with me, treated me as a partner, and showed deep empathy every step of the way.
My father was admitted to the CCU in a combative and agitated state due to a significant blood clot in his brain. He was confused, anxious, and understandably scared. Once he began to calm down, Roland stepped in and went above and beyond to ensure my father was safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

As someone who has spent a great deal of time at this hospital caring for both of my parents, I’ve had the opportunity to observe and interact with dozens of nurses. Many have been wonderful, but there is something truly special about the patience and care Roland brings to his work. It wasn’t just one moment—it was the consistent, compassionate presence he maintained throughout.

He called my dad “Papa,” and it brought such comfort. He spoke to him gently, explaining each step before doing anything. That thoughtful communication helped ease my father’s anxiety and mine.

What meant the most to me was the support Roland offered me during such a stressful time. He didn’t just care for my dad—he worked with me, treated me as a partner, and showed deep empathy every step of the way.

There are many capable nurses, but it is rare to find one with the level of compassion Roland brings to his work. When I read “Our Service Excellence Standards,” I immediately thought of Roland. He exemplifies those values, and I want to sincerely acknowledge his excellence and the impact he has on my family.
