Karen wanted to help in any way possible.
Nobody likes to be in a hospital. My mother was in the ICU for a few days. I was very scared that I was going to lose my mother. It's obvious that some of the hospital staff enjoy their job and enjoy helping their patients. When Karen's shift started at 7:00 PM, she made sure to enter the room with a smile and positivity. She thoroughly checked out my mother. She untangled all of the hoses and cords and made sure that my mother and I were as comfortable as possible.
My mother isn't the easiest patient to tend to, but Karen was very patient and understanding of our feelings. She gave me her honest opinion on certain issues with my mom. I finally had some closure on my decisions regarding my mother. Karen brought me pillows and blankets. I was able to make a bed and lie right next to my mother and hold her hand all night.
Entering the room at all hours of the night, she was very respectful and quiet. She was gentle and thorough with my mother. Karen wanted to help in any way possible. I was relieved to know she had 40+ years in nursing. It was also nice to know that Karen and I had so much in common.
She made the time in the ICU as comfortable as possible. I was so grateful to have such a caring nurse to tend to my mother. I would love to give her a hug and tell her, "Thanks so much!" We need more caring and honest people in this world. She did an amazing job. Thank you, Karen!
