Susanna is an incredible nurse and wonderful person. My wife was in the ICU and early one morning, Susanna noticed something wrong with her heart rhythm and contacted the doctors. When Susanna and another nurse were cleaning my wife up, Susanna asked me to come in to help calm my wife because she seemed anxious. I was holding my wife's hand and suddenly she released her grip and became very pale.

I looked at Susanna as she calmly asked the other nurse to call for assistance. As other staff came to my wife's room, I went to the hallway where I could here the doctor call the code as my wife was having a cardiac event. Within seconds, I saw so many people and a nurse and a chaplain were by my side explaining everything that was going on. I heard them say "clear" and proceed to shock my wife Then, I heard the best words, "we have a pulse and she's back."

I started to cry in the hallway and the next thing I felt were arms around me. It was Susanna and she was crying right along with me. She kept on apologizing for what happened and said we have her back as we both wiped tears from our faces.

The compassion and care that Susanna showed to me and my wife is incredible. She made sure to come see us before she left for the day and I got one more hug. Susanna made a very stressful day better by sharing that moment with me because my family was not there with me at the time. It takes an incredible person to become a nurse, but the way Susanna treated us cannot be taught- it was from the heart and she was incredible under pressure.
