My baby was in the NICU for 75 days. It was the longest, hardest 75 days of my life. We had many, many wonderful nurses during her stay. But when Ally was caring for her, I always felt calm and stable. I would come to the NICU every evening. Ally was so sweet with our baby while being knowledgeable and capable. Ally was there when she was getting a blood transfusion at 2 weeks old. It was hard for them to get an IV in, and there was an emergency with another patient, but Ally still made sure her care was passed on appropriately to another nurse. Although I wasn’t her patient, I benefited so much from her love and care. It gives me great relief that during the first few hours of her life, and for many weeks thereafter, our baby was being tended and cared for by Allyson Smyth.
