I arrived with my 17-year-old son, who was having knee surgery to fix a fracture he had in his tibia with metalwork; he was very anxious, as was I. 

Cat introduced himself, and he automatically made us feel at ease and comfortable being there. He explained what would happen during the morning. He was friendly with my son, talking about football and sports. He showed compassion with his work; nothing was too small to ask for if needed. 

To us, he went above and beyond to make the day more bearable and reassuring to a concerned, anxious parent or relative. Even the next day after surgery, Cat encouraged him with mobilising when he was taking his first steps. 

When my son was discharged, his advice was explained to us both with great care and passion/pride, ensuring we would get the best possible recovery over the next few days/weeks. 

The nursing care my son was given by Cat and all his team on Cedar Ward was 1st class. And I wish to thank Cat for this as it made my son’s hospital stay a more enjoyable one at such a scary time for him and me. Thanks Cat.
