Cortney Smith is a kind, compassionate, and empathetic nurse who recently had a tough case she was involved in. Cortney had a patient who had experienced extreme trauma and did not feel comfortable talking with staff. Cortney was able to take time with this patient, make her feel comfortable, and helped guide her to be able to get through the exam. 

The patient was understandably having difficulty getting through the medical-forensic exam, but Cortney took her time, found creative and healing ways to help the patient, and was eventually able to help the patient share her experience by having the patient write her own narrative down rather than making the patient state it out loud. This gave the patient an opportunity to share her experience without causing her further distress. 

I am so proud of Cortney and the way she took her time with this patient and found kind, empathetic ways to help her. Cortney is the epitome of a kind, selfless person, and it shows in everything she does. She naturally finds ways to make people feel special, boost their confidence, and continually looks for ways to show kindness. She is an amazing nurse, and I am so proud to have her as a part of our amazing forensic team.
