The patient had pain while lifting his neck, so Briona offered to help him eat. This patient was incredibly thankful for Briona’s help.
Briona was on a medical/surgical unit during clinical caring for a patient who was admitted with neck and back pain. Every time he tried to move, he had shooting pain up and down his neck and back. When a tray was brought for him at mealtime, it was placed far out of his reach. Briona walked in and noticed this. The patient had not even noticed that the tray had been brought in, but he was hungry. Briona helped him get situated so he could eat.
