One evening, Kayci cared for a young girl with Type 1 diabetes who was brought in with her two siblings to the ER. Because of the current home situation, they had to be placed into foster care. It was late, options were limited, and no emergency placement was found that could meet the child’s medical needs. After speaking to her husband, Kayci went through the process to get emergency guardianship and took all three kids home with her that night so they wouldn’t be separated. She and her husband cared for them along with their own three kids. This is an amazing display of nurse inspiration and human kindness at its best.
