Over the course of my four-day admission, I was blessed to have Ashlyn, RN nights 2 and 3. Where to start? Well, over the course of the two nights that Ashlyn was my nurse, I was having several things going on. Ashlyn made it a point both nights to come in and address my pain and make sure I had what I needed, and made me feel like I was her top priority.

Both nights, I never had to call for Ashlyn because she was rounding so frequently that she and I created our own system of "Cluster Care!" However, at the end of the first night, my symptoms worsened, and I started having chest pain. Ashlyn came in immediately, reassessed me, and notified the hospitalist to update and obtain further orders. Long story short, as an ER nurse myself with 20 years of experience at the bedside, and considering my significant cardiac history, I felt very safe, comfortable, and reassured by Ashlyn's actions.

In my opinion, the actions that Ashlyn took by listening and recognizing the change in my conditions and how I was feeling, her assessment and interventions prevented having to call a rapid response. If Ashlyn had not reacted so appropriately, my condition would have certainly worsened! Again, as a nurse myself and a patient, I can't say enough how thankful I am for Ashlyn! She is a very gifted nurse who you can definitely see that nursing isn't a career for her, it is a calling, she not only has the clinical skills, but she has the heart of a nurse, and you definitely feel that while she's taking care of you!
