Mitchell is one of our most recent NRP graduates and works night shift. I often receive many “You Got Caught Caring” for him related to helping peers during emergencies and rounding when he has time. 

He had an emergent situation with one of his patients that he handled beautifully. While helping a patient eat, Mitch noted slight weakness in the patient's left hand grip. Upon further assessment, he also noted a slight weakness in the patient's left leg. Because the symptoms were so subtle, he was a little hesitant to call the code stroke, but he listened to his gut and knew that “Time was Brain” and called a rapid response. The patient was rushed to CT, and the neurologist determined that the patient was having a stroke. The patient was quickly treated and had a positive outcome. Because of Mitch’s attention to detail in his assessment of stroke symptoms, this patient was able to receive the care needed and experienced a positive recovery. Thank you, Mitch!
