Chris gets recognized weekly by his patients and colleagues. Chris’s patients frequently say he is very kind, patient, and gentle. He takes his time to explain the patient’s care plan and answer any questions they have in a way they understand. His patients consistently say he connects with them and makes them feel comfortable; he even sneaks in a funny joke here and there to take their minds off being in the hospital and make them laugh. Chris will take the time with patient’s family members and answer or return calls when they have questions about their loved ones. ‌Chris’s colleagues often recognize him as a team player. Whether assigned lunch relief/resources or has his patients to care for, he is always willing to lend a helping hand. Colleagues say they can always ask him for help, and he never says no. The units' newer nurses often recognize Chris for being willing to answer their questions and guide them through their challenges as new grads. Chris usually takes on the preceptor role for new hires and helps them along their nursing journey. Chris also gets recognized by nursing students who enjoy being assigned to him because he is always willing to teach them new things and help them be exposed to new learning opportunities. Chris is a true asset to our team and a model example of our ICARE values.
