She always seeks to do what is best for the patients she encounters. She promotes pediatric excellence by pursuing collaboration with all who are involved in pediatric care in our region.
This individual is an exceptional nurse who puts the needs of her team and our patients before herself, and she always seeks to find solutions that are in the best interests of the patient.

We had a patient who was admitted related to a firearm injury. This was a unique situation, and due to the injury, the neurosurgeon requested that the patient be placed in a specific unit. Because of this, this nurse was proactive in ensuring that staff had the resources they needed to best care for this patient. She would personally go to the unit to assist, and she helped nursing staff navigate through the referral processes needed. With her efforts and collaboration, the patient was placed in a facility well suited for their needs. This act of advocacy went far beyond her role.

She always seeks to do what is best for the patients she encounters. She promotes pediatric excellence by pursuing collaboration with all who are involved in pediatric care in our region. When issues arise that can be improved, she works diligently to find and implement a solution.

She discovered an opportunity for improvement in the resuscitation of pediatric patients with hemorrhagic shock. She worked with several departments to create a pediatric mass transfusion plan. To educate staff, she put together a color-coded notebook that easily explains the appropriate resuscitation.

She leads by example and is willing to jump in to help to ensure what is needed is done. Her professionalism allows her to work seamlessly with other departments and hospitals to allow for continuity of care. She is driven, honest, compassionate, kind, and is a strong advocate for those who don’t have a voice for themselves.
