Susie demonstrates excellence daily through her ability to make the patients comfortable during their surgery experience.  Not only does she ensure that their physical needs are met, but she also makes them feel comfortable, by telling/or listening to a joke or a story, the patient gets so engaged by Susie that they don’t even realize an IV has been started. Even singing to a pediatric patient, in which the patient has forgotten all about their fears and anxieties of being in the surgical suite. She listens to her patients, taking the extra time and effort to make sure all their questions are answered.

Susie possesses extraordinary clinical expertise; she is aware of a patient's condition at a glance, knowing exactly when a patient needs more investigation for a condition. She is an excellent communicator with all multidisciplinary teams.  She is a member of the Creating Lasting Change (CLC) Committee, she works tirelessly as lead on the Care Team, encouraging and recognizing staff at Eye Surgery Center, including Preop, OR and PACU. Including celebrating anniversaries. She also fills in for relief charge nurse. She is our expert in Health Connect and represents the Eye Surgery Center at the Perioperative Domain meetings. 

This exemplifies her extraordinary compassionate care by going above and beyond the standards of practice. Susie is a true DAISY Nurse.
