Erica was my father’s nurse for an entire week at St Mary’s Hospital. I’ll start by saying there are not enough words or space to type what a fantastic job she did with him. Dad is 87 years old and has early dementia, so he is easily confused and asks lots of questions lots of times. Erica gave him comfort with an incredible enthusiasm that helped calm my father every step of the way. After the first day, you would think that they had known each other for years as he joked with her and talked about his challenges. So bedside manner, she is clearly the best in the business. However, she shines even more with her medical knowledge and skills. At no time was my father uncomfortable, and at no time did he feel pressured or rushed in any conversations. I know that for the rest of his life, he will talk about Erica and his experience with her and the team at St Mary’s Hospital. As the son of a very stubborn father, I cannot thank Erica enough for her love of the job that she does. It is with a tear in my eye that I say I am so honored to have known her and wish her nothing but the best in her future.
