Chloe did not leave her side until the mom was moved to the Mother-Baby area.
It became apparent to the nursing faculty that we needed to give the Nursing Student Daisy Award to one of our 2025 graduates in the Spring semester of 2024. Chloe Dennison stood out in the classroom but began to shine when attending clinicals. We received emails from OB patients under her care. One letter from a new mother talked about Chloe's care and kindness in the delivery room when she discovered that her newborn would be going to the NICU. Chloe did not leave her side until the mom was moved to the Mother-Baby area. The mom stated in the email that Chloe displayed care and kindness and ensured she and her husband knew she was there for them. Chloe also made knitted hats for all the NICU babies during that time.
In the fall, the nursing faculty received further praise for Chloe while she was shadowing a nursing manager. The nurse manager described Chloe as “sharp,” “asked good questions,” and “helped lead the morning huddle.” This is also our first student to be awarded an undergraduate research award, the Susan Thrasher Undergraduate Research Award, for her work regarding vaping and mental health in youth. Chloe has a heart for children's health that is evident in her actions in clinical and research.
