She offered me a much-needed hug and spent time to ensure I was settled before returning to her other duties.
I was admitted with severe pain from pancreatitis. Andrea spent the time to explain everything I needed. She offered an explanation for any delays or omissions; I felt her explanations were always honest and genuine. Never once did she complain, and the ward was exceptionally busy for most of her shifts. Yet she continued to be pleasant, happy, cheery, and polite to everyone.
From a personal view, there was a night I was in extreme pain that I nearly collapsed, and Andrea, who was supporting the nurses who were caring directly for me. The second night, on the trigger of another pain episode, she calmly but firmly reassured me and supported me, even managed to raise a smile with her persona while I was sobbing. She offered me a much-needed hug and spent time to ensure I was settled before returning to her other duties. Tonight is the third night she is looking after me. I have listened to her attending to all the individuals on the unit, offering individualised care and support, communicating at a level suited to everyone individually. Once again, she has been persistent in sorting out some issues, offering open, honest explanations to all of us patients, and it's only an hour and a half into her shift. She's one amazing, knowledgeable, experienced, and dedicated nurse, consistently giving the best care
