Bridget sat down with me and had a very personal, heart-to-heart conversation. It made me feel heard and seen.
I was going to be discharged from the hospital and felt completely dismissed by my doctor. My medical problems had technically been addressed, but I did not feel safe going home. The RN sat down with me and had a very personal, heart-to-heart conversation. It made me feel heard and seen. The discharge orders had been written, and I was in the middle of talking with me when she got called on break, but she didn't rush me out. Instead, she politely dismissed herself and told me to wait there. I quietly pulled myself together a little, still feeling shaken and hopeless, and when she returned, she brought back a list of resources that not even the case had managed to procure. I can't explain what this dedication meant at this moment for me. Thank you for not just blowing me off. Thank you for your warmth and kindness, diabetes buddy!
