The next day, Jake came into work a half hour earlier just to see if I would be back in my room and how I was doing, and that showed me a lot of compassion.
I was in a bad car accident this year with a skull fracture, six broken ribs, and two broken vertebrae. On my fourth day at the hospital, I got Jake from State Farm as my nurse. He came in, introduced himself with his big smile, and I felt very comfortable with his presence. As the day went on, he could see my pain level was up and down as he was giving me more morphine and getting worse. He explained to me that I had to tell them everything that happens from now through the night. I did have a bad night, and I explained everything that was going on with my pain in both of my arms. The next morning, when Jake came, he had to give me a morphine shot, and he took time to read what had happened during the night. He immediately called my doctor to come and look at this. She read what was documented throughout the night, and she immediately called the Neurosurgeon, and he was there in less than five minutes. When he took some tests on me with his intern, he quickly ordered an MRI. I had an emergency operation on my neck because I had a blood clot. Jake knew I would be in the ICU, and he would miss me the next day, but the operation went successfully. The next day, Jake came into work a half hour earlier just to see if I would be back in my room and how I was doing, and that showed me a lot of compassion. I had no more pain in my arms whatsoever, thanks to the doctors and my nurse, Jake, who went beyond expectations and did his job. God works in mysterious ways; it amazes me. I would never have an opportunity to meet a great staff, especially my nurse, Jake.
