The patient (a severely handicapped 25-year-old child with smiles that light up life itself) was transferred to Christ Hospital in critical condition. The doctor jumped into action ...provided immediate care...assessed the situation...deep coma... and gave dad, mom and sister the devastating...heartbreaking news. The extended family arrived as loving support to the patient, mom, dad, and sister. Her Pastor arrived about 9 pm to offer prayers...2 people limit in ICU room...However, we were blessed as nurse Ryan McGrath (CRU-ICU) was on duty...he said "family is most important"..and led us into her room and closed the curtain. We prayed and grieved over our little angel...On our way out, I just had to hug him and thank him for his compassion.

The story does not end here... as when we returned in the early morning and visited our baby girl again...Ryan popped back in to say goodbye, as his shift was over...Ryan provided more words of comfort and hugs...and then... from his heart...he gave the most touching, beautiful prayer. Ryan was a blessing to us all... in our time of overwhelming sadness. I will always remember his sweet kindness...Thank you, Ryan.

The patient was an organ donor and was taken off of life support. She passed her love of life and smiles galore on to 4 recipients... her heart... to a girl under the age of 10...perfect!!!! All recipients remain in our prayers.
