I am honored to nominate Kala J, RN, and her preceptee, Seja, for the DAISY Award. In my six years of experience in healthcare, I have never encountered two individuals as caring and passionate as they are. Their exceptional commitment to patient care transformed a deeply frightening experience for my family into one marked by compassion and reassurance.

When my mother was admitted for an NSTEMI, it was her first cardiac event, and I was overwhelmed with fear and anxiety. However, from the moment Kala and Seja entered the room, they took the time to explain everything in detail, allaying my fears and doubts with their calm and confident demeanor. They were prompt in their responses and thorough in their assessments, demonstrating not only their expertise but also their genuine concern for my mother’s well-being.

Throughout her care, they patiently answered my numerous questions—no matter how repetitive or irritating they may have seemed. Their kindness and understanding made my mother feel safe and comfortable, which in turn eased my own worries. They created an environment that fostered trust and compassion, making a significant impact on our family's experience during such a challenging time.

Even as we transitioned to a new nursing team, I couldn’t hold back my tears. The care that Kala and Seja provided was not just clinical; it was heartfelt and impactful. They went above and beyond, treating my mother with dignity and respect while also supporting our family emotionally. Their dedication to patient-centered care exemplifies the spirit of the DAISY Award.

I wholeheartedly believe that Kala and Seja deserve this recognition for their extraordinary efforts and the profound impact they have had on our lives. They are true gems in the healthcare field, and their compassionate care will be remembered long after my mother’s recovery.
