She actively teaches and inspires fellow nurses, demonstrating the profound joy and fulfillment that comes from serving within the communities where they live and work.
Terry's unwavering commitment to the mission of our health system has significantly impacted the well-being of countless individuals within our community as the registered nurse assigned to assist our Community Outreach department. Her compassion for others truly makes her the perfect fit for the community outreach role. Please see my nomination below where I outline how she impacts our mission, vision and values.
It is my pleasure to nominate Terry Towne for recognition of her exemplary dedication to community outreach nursing. She is a beacon of compassion, knowledge and service, tirelessly working to bring healthcare directly to those in greatest need. Her unwavering commitment to the mission of our health system has significantly impacted the well-being of countless individuals within our community.
One of Terry’s many outstanding contributions is her monthly visits to a temporary, low-barrier housing facility, where she provides essential health screenings and education. By bringing healthcare directly to individuals who may not otherwise have access, she helps bridge gaps in care and promotes better health outcomes for vulnerable populations. Her presence in these communities fosters trust and ensures that those in need receive the care and guidance they deserve.
Beyond her hands-on work, Terry is also a passionate advocate for the expansion of community outreach efforts. She actively teaches and inspires fellow nurses, demonstrating the profound joy and fulfillment that comes from serving within the communities where they live and work. Her leadership in this area has encouraged more nurses to engage in outreach, further amplifying the impact of our health system’s mission.
One of her most successful initiatives has been hosting a Healthy for Life cohort, an essential program for individuals diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes. Over the course of 12 weeks, she educated 20 community members on vital health topics such as reading food labels, making informed grocery choices and preparing nutritious meals. The participants consistently praised her engaging teaching style, as well as her ability to educate with kindness, patience and compassion. The success of this program is a testament to her skill as both a nurse and an educator.
Terry’s selflessness and passion for helping others know no bounds. She continuously goes above and beyond to ensure the well-being of those she serves. Her commitment to community outreach has been instrumental in the impact we are making, and without her, we would not be able to achieve the level of outreach and care that defines our mission. She is an invaluable asset to our team and a true embodiment of what it means to serve with heart and purpose.
