This team consistently exceeds expectations in caring for patients. This team acts as a family and comes together not only to help their patients but also to help each other. Earlier this year, a member of the team was struggling at home and needed help due to becoming a single parent. The team came together and donated toys, money, and other items to help the team member so they could come back to work. This team truly looks out for each other and treats everyone, including patients, like family. Patients often say that they feel less stressed and less anxious while staying in this unit because of the kind and compassionate personalities of this unit. In 2024, the team was touched by the experience of a homeless patient. The team not only raised money for the homeless patient but also donated their own personal items such as phone battery backs, coolers, food, and clothing so that the patient could get their life back on track. The patient later came back with a card stating that they were able to get their life back on track because of the kindness that the entire team showed during their hospital stay. The team is truly a shining example of the best that UPMC has to offer.
