Cassie made my birth and our hospital experience incredible. She came on shift at the same moment I decided to receive an epidural after preparing my entire pregnancy for an unmedicated birth. Although it was a mentally difficult decision for me, she built trust and comforted me in the next steps of the process. She encouraged me throughout labor and answered every question my husband and I asked. She educated us not only on what things were but also on why they were used. During the pushing stage, she was not only a cheerleader but a leader and voice of reason. I knew I could trust her. After our son arrived, the care she showed all three of us—two brand-new parents and a brand-new baby—was truly inspiring. Yes, it’s “just part of the job,” but she goes above and beyond to put her whole heart and best self into her job. Although my birth experience was completely different than I had prepared for, I would not have changed a thing thanks to her. During one of the most vulnerable times in your life, you need a strong and compassionate supporter, and she was all of that and more.
