Anita provided us with complete holistic care. She was at the bedside for my husband's care the day he arrived on the neurotrauma floor from an emergency surgery after a motorcycle crash. My husband was intubated and with his abdomen left open to a wound vac pending a second surgery. This day was emotional, heartbreaking, and incredibly scary for me as his wife and the rest of his family and friends. Anita didn't just care for my husband, but also provided emotional support to me and my mother-in-law at the bedside. Nursing is hard, it has high rates of burnout when working at the bedside. Anita showed compassion in her care to all of us in the room, showing that she genuinely cares about her job and her patients. During one of the scariest days of my life, she made a difference, and I'm incredibly thankful for the impact she had on our experience and journey to healing.
