She took time to not only perform her duties in a professional and compassionate manner, but she also explained what was going on every step of the way and exhibited a level of humanity beyond words.
My daughter was involved in a horrific car accident where she was trapped in the car and had to be extricated. We live two hours away and rushed to the hospital, obviously shaken and worried, with more questions than the obviously fluid situation could provide answers for. The initial phases of her stay in the Peds ER are blurry but then we met Reagan.
Reagan was our nurse, and despite being pulled in multiple directions, not once did we feel like we weren't her only or most important patient. To say she went above and beyond would be an understatement. She took time to not only perform her duties in a professional and compassionate manner, but she also explained what was going on every step of the way and exhibited a level of humanity beyond words. Frightening procedures and invasive examinations are daunting for a young patient but exponentially less frightening with soothing words, a hand to hold and gentle reassurance from the likes of someone like Reagan at your bedside.
Nurse Crowe doesn't know, but my daughter wants to become a nurse and is currently majoring in pre-nursing. With tears in her eyes, she confided to me that she wants to be a nurse because she would love to have the impact on others that Reagan had on her. That statement is why I find it necessary to share this story. ECU should be proud of having such an amazing young professional on staff, and the nursing field should be thankful to have her in their ranks. Some people go their entire lives wondering if they ever made a difference, but I'm here to tell you, Reagan Crowe doesn't have that problem. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
