Z is our 2-year-old, medically complex, bubbly little boy. He goes into respiratory/cardiac arrest every few weeks, and we spend a lot of time in the hospital, and have never had a nurse like Ashley. We were transported from another hospital to here in the middle of the night with two of our other kiddos; they didn't eat, and they were restless. She went out of her way and was very, very welcoming and hands-on. She went out of her way and found every little snack they could for us and our girls. While trying to check him in, she interacted with our girls, supported our son, and gave the kids coloring activities. She advocated for our son to the doctors to make him comfortable and tried her best to step in to allow us to rest, always had a smile on her face. Allowed Z to assist her in everything, even if it took more time, never made us feel rushed or like we were bothering her! She got him a special character blanket and a stuffed animal, and after it got thrown up on, she rushed to wash it and just made us feel at home. With a medically complex kiddo, we have seen tons of nurses, and they have been wonderful, but Ashley was and is the best nurse we have ever had in our whole lives. She is the most caring, gentle, upbeat individual who really cares for her patients and families. She continued to go above and beyond her job title, and I couldn't be more thankful.
