My 86-year-old uncle moved to Cape Coral in 2024 and was enjoying his new home with his daughter and her boyfriend when his life changed in what seemed like an instant. A visit to the Cape Coral Hospital ER turned into a very long, puzzling, and scary stay, but we believe we are finally seeing signs that give us hope.

Today is day 3 with Ashley. She has provided exceptional care for my uncle, has kept us fully informed about each test and doctor update, and has such amazing compassion. Ashley has provided my uncle with extra support by really listening to him and to us. She wants him to feel better, to know his options, and to have new treatments to help him be more comfortable. Ashley is the best bedside nurse I have ever met. She is smart, alert, in time with her patients, and willing to consult with nurses in other disciplines to learn about new treatments they might have that can help her patients.

A perfect example is the oral care treatment she secured for my uncle. She saw his severe discomfort and sprang into action. She consulted with the ICU nurse, discovered an option, gained doctor approval to proceed, and helped my uncle more than I can describe. He is non-verbal right now, but he can smile, and smile he did. His agitation decreased, and his mouth is free of the unfortunate bacteria that upset him.

In closing, when we arrived today, Ashley's face lit up with pride and relief that my uncle had made great progress overnight. She was just as relieved as we were, and that is a beautiful gift from an amazing nurse! You are blessed to have Ashley on your team. Thank you!
