Ben is an outstanding nurse whom patients and staff appreciate every day. He has an incredible bedside manner and positive attitude, which helps to reassure many of our patients who are anxious and facing life-threatening events and conditions daily. Since Ben joined our team over a year ago, Ben has taken full ownership of the nursing responsibilities for all patients established with the UCSF Electrophysiology team. He receives 50+ messages a day and responds to each one individually, creating thoughtful, curated responses that address each patient’s unique needs. In addition, he takes live calls from patients/families, answering their questions and providing advice so they can navigate their healthcare with an informed approach.

There are many instances where Ben has remained calm in stressful situations, as patients often call with abnormal heart rhythms and symptoms. They are often anxious and scared, and Ben is always on the other end of the line offering guidance and support. There are countless calls and message exchanges where Ben exemplifies consistent, therapeutic communication.
