They are often anxious and scared, and Ben is always on the other end of the line offering guidance and support.
Ben is an outstanding nurse whom patients and staff appreciate every day. He has an incredible bedside manner and positive attitude, which helps to reassure many of our patients who are anxious and facing life-threatening events and conditions daily. His work at the bedside and procedural areas has helped inform his practice now in Cardiology Ambulatory Care and specifically the Electrophysiology clinic – he easily translates complex medical situations into patient-centered education and care. I am frequently provided positive patient feedback on Ben’s diligence, commitment to patient care, and providing patients with a positive experience. Not only is Ben a delight to work with – he is a strong clinician who always has safety at the forefront of his approach. Ben’s commitment to patient care also extends to other care team members; he has provided education and training to medical assistants in our clinics and regularly collaborates with nurses and APPs in other clinical areas. No task is too daunting for Ben to take on and he provides high quality care along with joy and compassion – he truly is the definition of an extraordinary nurse.

Ben is a true team player, a positive role model who exhibits excellent communication skills, and a professional who is consistently caring and compassionate. They make a difference in the life of a patient and the patients' family as indicated in the following detailed description/example:
Since Ben joined our team over a year ago, Ben has taken full ownership of the nursing responsibilities for all patients established with the UCSF Electrophysiology team. He receives 50+ messages a day and responds to each one individually, creating thoughtful, curated responses that address each patient’s unique needs. In addition, he takes live calls from patients/families, answering their questions and providing advice so they can navigate their healthcare with an informed approach.
There are many instances where Ben has remained calm in stressful situations, as patients often call with abnormal heart rhythms and symptoms. They are often anxious and scared, and Ben is always on the other end of the line offering guidance and support. There are countless calls and message exchanges where Ben exemplifies consistent, therapeutic communication. I have had patients/families call specifically requesting Ben, and it’s evident they have built a trusting relationship as it relates to healthcare. I know he has touched so many lives by answering every question with calming, non-judgmental compassion.
