Trevor and his wife had decorated his room for what would be his last birthday.
Our brother was placed on ECMO. For the next 17 days, he was kept “alive” due to the care of Trevor among several other nurses.
When the family decided it was time to let our brother go, we informed Trevor at 6:30 pm, Sunday. That day was our brother’s birthday. Trevor and his wife had decorated his room for what would be his last birthday.
Trevor put the process of removing our brother from the machines in motion. He was due to go off shift but asked us if we minded if he stayed to see the process through. Trevor contacted the doctor to inform him of our wishes. He also arranged for the chaplain to join us in prayer. We all received communion and began the process of letting our brother go.
Throughout the process, Trevor was kind, compassionate, and professional. Our brother was lucky to have Trevor at his side for his final journey.
We are forever grateful for Trevor. He’s a credit to his profession and to St. Rita’s.
Thank you, Trevor!
