When I first met Professor Shultz-Larson, I was absolutely terrified of her. She was tough, no-nonsense, and incredibly knowledgeable- someone you didn’t want to disappoint. But as I progressed through my nursing journey, I realized that her tough love wasn’t meant to scare us; it was meant to push us to be the best versions of ourselves. Professor Shultz-Larson is one of the smartest, kindest, and most dedicated educators I have ever met. She challenges her students not because she wants us to struggle, but because she knows what’s waiting for us beyond nursing school. She holds us to the highest standard because she knows we are capable of reaching it.

Beyond her brilliance, she is also compassionate and deeply invested in our success. She doesn’t just teach us how to pass exams—she teaches us how to think critically, how to care deeply, and how to stand confidently in our role as future nurses. She makes us laugh when we need it, encourages us when we doubt ourselves, and reminds us every day why we chose this profession. She inspires me not only to be a better student but to be a better person. Her passion for nursing and education is contagious, and because of her, I strive to be the kind of nurse who truly makes a difference.
