The moment she recognized me, she pulled me into a hug, her embrace full of warmth and understanding.
The first time I went to the emergency room, I was six weeks pregnant and 22 years old. I was bleeding and terrified—my heart heavy with fear because I had already suffered three miscarriages around the same time in previous pregnancies. Panic set in, but then Nurse Kelly walked in. She immediately calmed me, reassuring me that they would do everything they could to find out what was wrong. An ultrasound revealed a fetal pole, and I was sent home with cautious hope. But four weeks later, at my first doctor's appointment, my worst fears were confirmed—I had experienced a missed miscarriage. I was given medication to help my body pass the pregnancy and sent home to endure the heartbreak in silence.

Two weeks later, I was still bleeding heavily. I returned to the emergency room, feeling physically and emotionally drained. That’s when I saw Nurse Kelly again. The moment she recognized me, she pulled me into a hug, her embrace full of warmth and understanding. She told me how deeply sorry she was and promised she would take care of me. As they prepared me for a D&C, Nurse Kelly never left my side. She stayed with me, offering comfort, compassion, and strength when I had little left of my own. In one of the hardest moments of my life, she was my anchor—a reminder that even in heartbreak, kindness can make all the difference.
