Upon day 3 of being hospitalized and despite receiving the proper treatments and care, my wife Debbie found her stay draining, particularly since this was her 3rd visit in 4 weeks. Mayo nurses are typically always good, but on the morning of her 3rd day, her new day nurse, Chelsea, came on duty and right away made a significant and positive difference. While cheerfully and thoughtfully tending promptly to all my wife's needs, she took time to genuinely listen to my wife describe her feelings about her dilemma. With that, Chelsea made whiteboard notes covering long-term plans for us to consider and review with her attending and other doctors. This also included a bullet point for patio privileges.

Chelsea then went to secure the needed permission and approval and returned shortly with a wheelchair and recommendations for area locations to visit for our respite from room confinement. As mentioned previously, Mayo nurses are usually always quite good, but then an exceptional one like Chelsea comes along who exceeds expectations and makes such a positive difference.
