The patient stated that she” had been struggling with Crohn’s and colitis for a long time”.  This was her first hospitalization in many years.  She stated “Rarely do I run into a nurse that makes me feel comfortable and accepted.  Olivia did not have to go out of her way like she did, always offering more than her “job description” and trying to find other ways to help with my pain and comfort, for example: heating pads, talking out my feelings, offering snacks, checking on me in between rounds.”

The patient explained that “she did it because it seems like that is the kind of nurse and person she is.” The patient stated, “I feel very blessed to have her as my nurse. Being sick is hard and stressful…I need to thank her for helping me feel like I could see a light at the end of the tunnel”.
