I told her what was happening and told her I had to get out there, and I’m going to my daughter, no matter what. It was then that she looked me in the eye and said, I’m a Mom, get your coat. If you are going down there, I’m coming with you.
I was a patient here when my oldest daughter came to visit me. My daughter left, and not even five minutes later, I get a call from her outside the hospital, crying that she was just hit by a car. Now as you can imagine, I was panicked and helpless at the moment being in the hospital. I ran out of my room looking for help. At that time, Samantha came over and right away took charge. I told her what was happening and told her I had to get out there, and I’m going to my daughter, no matter what. It was then that she looked me in the eye and said, I’m a Mom, get your coat. If you are going down there, I’m coming with you. She walked me down all while telling me everything will be ok and that we will get my daughter right in to the ER to be checked out. Leaving the hospital she quickly grabbed a wheel chair and we both went to my daughter, who was right outside the main doors crossing the street on First St. We got my daughter and we walked back into the hospital where Samantha then said, ok, this is where I draw the line and I can not have you go back there and chance getting exposed and I agreed and was so thankful she took me to my daughter. I knew my daughter was safe and my husband was minutes away from getting to the hospital. After this whole ordeal, I’m sitting in my bed and looking at the board that has all the names of nurses and supervisors. It’s then I take notice to Samantha’s name. A few days earlier, my daughter’s best friend was laid to rest after fighting muscle cancer. At this moment, I knew Samantha was an angel from above. I knew instantly that Samantha was an angel sent above by our S we just lost. I can never express my gratitude to her for how she reacted that day. I was so helpless at that moment, and she just came in, took control, all while being professional, caring, and just being overall just a really good person/nurse. I will forever be grateful to her and all the nurses who cared for me. I now have two Samanthas that are my angels.
