Michael was definitely an angel in disguise and helped not just Dad, but me as well.
My Dad was admitted after arriving via helicopter after suffering a heart attack. He was admitted on a Saturday night. Michael was his nurse during the day/evening on Sunday. It was a lot for all of us to take in, and it was very scary, especially for my Dad. Michael was just fabulous all day and evening with him. He explained things and helped us all understand what was happening and why. He was so gentle and just so compassionate and caring. He made Dad laugh and really just brightened his day and made him comfortable in a very scary situation. Dad was transferred to the 5th floor until surgery could take place. The doctor explained to Dad that he would go back to CVICU after surgery. Later that evening, Dad said, “I sure hope to get Michael again when I go back to the ICU.” He had surgery several days later. Michael came into Dad’s room the following day, even though he wasn’t one of his patients that day. Dad’s face lit up when he saw him walk into the room. Michael said he saw Dad’s name back on the floor and wanted to check in and see how he was doing. He even remembered some of the other issues Dad was having and asked about those as well. It seemed like he genuinely cared about my Dad. I can never express enough gratitude to all of the staff that saved his life and cared for him throughout all of it. Michael was definitely an angel in disguise and helped not just Dad, but me as well. I knew when it was time for me to leave that day that I was leaving my Dad in the best hands. I don’t think a day has passed during his stay so far that he hasn’t mentioned how good Michael is and how he hopes to have him again before he leaves. THANK YOU, MICHAEL, for being our bright light in a dark time!
