I was transferred from the ICU late one night. When I got to N5G, I encountered a lovely nurse named Lisa Oates. I had been in the ICU for 14 days and had gotten to know most of the nurses there. So, when I came to the floor, it was so nice to have a nurse welcome me with such a beautiful personality and a great sense of humor. That's very important to me. She made me laugh, which I think is a very important part of the healing process. They say laughter is the best medicine, and I believe it. We had a great night, because everyone knows there's very little or no sleep in the hospital. I had the biggest smile a few nights later when I saw that she was my nurse again. We had a great night. I was already happy because I was supposed to be going to rehab the next morning.

My mother had an operation to amputate her leg below the knee. Sometimes she has a huge issue with phantom pain, and since this is a new operation, it has been very painful and makes her cry, too. Alisa helps her through it and encourages her when it happens. She also celebrates with us when my mom is successful. For example, today she stood for the first time since her surgery. Alisa was just as happy and proud of her as I am. I know anytime I am not here, she is going to be cared for exactly as if she were Alisa's family, too. My mom has congestive heart failure, and it is so scary when she has to go through this. Alisa comforted me and made me see things on the bright side. Please choose Alisa for this award. She is such an amazing and wonderful person with a sensational personality that makes patients see how much she genuinely cares. Thank you!

Alisa is the bestest best best; when I tell you from the moment she walked into my room, her energy was so great, she was beyond on top of my meds, checking on me, and making me laugh, so respectful, very caring. Alisa has a beautiful soul. At all the hospitals I was admitted to from the year 2000 and now I can honestly say Alisa Oates is my number 1 extraordinary, good energy, so caring, and always making sure all her patients are taken care of and never have to wait on her. Alisa is on it 100%.
